Spanish Lagoon Historical and Mindful Nature Walk

Meeting Place: Frenchman’s Pass- 10 minutes from Oranjestad
In this mindful hike, you will be guided thru the beautiful and partially canopy-covered Spanish Lagoon trail where you may have a chance to observe the local burrow owls called Shocos. Spanish Lagoon is the nesting area for many birds, hermit crabs, and several varieties of iguanas native to Aruba. You may get a glimpse of the majestic ruby-throated hummingbird which likes the shrubs and water source of this landscape. During the hike you will learn about local culture as well as the flora and fauna of the natural surroundings as well as some medicinal and edible plant varieties. You will continue to visit the Balashi Gold Mines and then hike up to a panoramic view of the landscape ending at the ruins of an old Aloe farm from the 1800’s.
